About
A country girl through and through, my favourite moments in life are spent outside watching animals in their natural habitat. Whatever the season, there is always something magical to spot; whether it be birds nesting in spring, insects on the wing in summer, fungi pushing up through the woodland floor in autumn or striking icy landscapes in winter.
Photography is a fantastic medium to capture the wonder of the natural world and share it with others, and the challenge of getting that one great shot motivates me every time I head out with camera in hand.
My love of nature led me to begin volunteering with Kemerton Conservation Trust in 2007 and I have become a key member of the small team there ever since. Much of my photography is taken on the Trust’s beautiful reserves; particularly Kemerton Lake Nature Reserve, and on nearby Bredon Hill. However, I also try to visit other areas of the UK to gain inspiration and photograph a wider range of species.
In addition to my work with Kemerton Conservation Trust, I am also an active member of Worcestershire Bat Group and Worcestershire Fungi Group, carrying out recording in both these fields on behalf of Kemerton Conservation Trust and also assisting with surveys throughout Worcestershire.
Being a photographer is a lifelong learning process and I see myself as very much still in the early stages of that journey with much more to learn. But I hope that my images will help to highlight the wonderful wildlife that is all around us and will motivate more people to love it and protect it for the future.
All my photographs are taken on a Canon DSLR. Whilst I aim to perfect the image in-camera, the majority of shots have received minor edits in Photoshop or other editing software including adjustments to contrast, brightness and colour saturation, spot removal, cropping, or conversion to black and white (noted as ‘Black & White Conversion’ in title). I try to keep editing to a minimum as usually my aim is to recreate the scene faithfully. A few images have also had things removed to improve composition, some are the result of multiple exposures (noted as ‘HDR’ in the title) and some have had creative effects applied in Photoshop (noted as ‘Photoart’ in the title).
All photographs on this site are my own work and are fully copyrighted.
